Pet Helpers Grand Opening Was A Success!
Charleston, SC - On Saturday, March 29th, the doors to Pet Helpers’ new Adoption Center and Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic officially opened.
Charleston County Police had to direct traffic for the 400 people who attended. More than $6,000 was raised through donations and eight animals found permanent loving new homes.
The festivities kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at noon. State Representative Wallace Scarborough, Charleston Mayor Joe Riley, Folly Beach Mayor Pro Tem Tim Goodwin, Mount Pleasant Mayor Harry Hallman, James Island City Council Member Joe Quailey and Kiawah Mayor Bill Wert were some of the dignitaries that took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Pastor Alice Deal from Folly Beach United Methodist Church closed the ceremony with a Benediction.
The rest of the day was filled with fun, four-legged furry friends and information sessions with local experts. Veterinarian Dr. Leslie Steel was on hand to answer any pet health questions. Dog trainer Tommy Grammer gave tips on how to make sure your animal behaves. Animal Communicator Barbra Rawson was also there to help potential adopters meet their match through psychic readings. Kid’s enjoyed a jump castle, coloring table and face painting by Susan Fedor.
“This is truly a dream come true! I can’t thank everyone enough, who have helped Pet Helpers become who we are today,” stated Founder/President Carol Linville. “This celebration was a great turnout. Not only did people get to see the new shelter but animals found permanent homes.”
