Intake Policy

Pet Helpers keeps all pets until they are adopted. Therefore space is limited, and we cannot accept all animals. Animals are accepted on a space available basis or if a determination is made that the welfare of the animal is in jeopardy. You must make an appointment to bring your animal into Pet Helpers.  Please call the front desk at (843) 795 - 1110 to make an appointment.

Pet Helpers does not accept drop-offs.  If you are returning an animal that was previously adopted from Pet Helpers, please call (843) 795 - 1110 to arrange the return.   

Or, you can complete the intake form electronically (found below).  Submission of this form does not guarantee an available spot in the shelter.  A representative from Pet Helpers will call you upon review of the form to discuss the information in further detail.

Before being admitted to the shelter, all dogs must undergo a SAFER assessment, which is performed by one of the Pet Helpers staff.
