Emergency Medical Assistance
Pet Helpers has limited funds to assist individuals with emergency medical care. Eligibility will be determined on a case by case basis.
Whether Pet Helpers is able to assist you or not, it is important to be proactive and attempt to work with your Veterinarian. You may:
Negotiate a payment plan. If you're a client in good standing, your Veterinarian may be happy to workout a weekly or monthly payment plan. However, don't expect a vet you've never been to before to agree to such a plan.
Offter to perform a service for your vet like cleaning kennels, answering phones or other work in lieu of actual cash.
Get a second opinion. You'll have to pay the office visit fee, but another vet may have other, less expensive ways to treat your pet.

For vaccines and preventative health care please call the Lowcountry Pet Wellness Clinic at 556-PETS or visit them online at www.lowcountrypet.com.
It may not help you in your current crisis, but you may consider purchasing Pet Health Insurance for your pet. Just like health insurance for people, this involves paying a monthly premium based on the level of coverage. Pet Helpers recommends ShelterCare Pet Insurance. |
